The Art of Gilbert & Sullivan

The art of Gilbert & Sullivan was created for what we would call a repertory company – where the same performer types recur in each title.  The character and vocal demands may vary widely, but its consistency in casting makes NYGASP uniquely positioned to explore this artistry in a personal and encompassing manner.  Albert Bergeret’s over 50 years of involvement with the G&S canon, as Founder and Artistic Director of New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players and elsewhere, gives him the insight to break down the quintessential elements of these classic works for both devoted Savoyard fans and new comers to the art form.  He is assisted by long time colleague Andrea Stryker-Rodda at the piano and talented singers from the Company roster.

Join Maestro Bergeret on his birthday, Tuesday, October 10th, when he initiates a series of five evening sessions (additional Tuesdays 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/14: all 7-9pm) devoted to exploring the rich catalogue of varying role types in the G&S repertory.

Venue: St. Michael's Church, 225 West 99th Street

Tuition: $250
